Industry Relations

UCSF values its collaboration with industry and other outside organizations, but wishes to ensure, to the best of its ability, that decisions regarding clinical care, research activities and education content are unbiased and independent of outside influence. Please review the entire UCSF Industry Relations Policy.

Requirements

  • Disclose financial interest with Industry and other outside organizations including those related to research activities
  • Register all student organization events with the Student Life office by submitting an event request in the Group Portal
     

Allowable

  • Accept and use unrestricted grants from Industry to provide meals and other support for UCSF Educational Programs
  • Participate in educational Industry meetings if approved and under the supervision of a UCSF faculty member
  • Voluntarily participate in Industry sponsored educational programs where the content is not controlled or limited by the sponsor
     

Not Allowable

  • Accept restricted grants or gifts from industry representatives
  • Accept donated supplies or equipment prior to review by the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost or a designee
  • Participate in any company speakers’ bureaus in which the sponsor determines the content of the presentations or controls what is presented
  • Accept payment for attending any educational, professional sales or marketing activity
  • Accept funds donated to an individual UCSF faculty, staff, student or trainee
  • Agree to let Industry representatives visit UCSF-owned and operated locations without prior approval from a University faculty member
